Plagiarism Policy
1. Purpose The Eco AgriTech Frontiers Journal (EATFJ) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. This Plagiarism Policy aims to prevent plagiarism and other forms of research misconduct in all submissions to the journal. The policy outlines the procedures and actions taken in cases of plagiarism to ensure that the journal maintains the credibility and quality of its publications.
2. Definition of Plagiarism Plagiarism is defined as the use of someone else's work, ideas, data, or words without proper acknowledgment or permission. It includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct plagiarism: Copying text verbatim from other sources without citation.
- Self-plagiarism: Reusing significant portions of one's own previous work without proper citation.
- Mosaic plagiarism: Mixing copied content from different sources without appropriate citation or acknowledgment.
- Paraphrasing plagiarism: Rewriting someone else's ideas or text without proper citation.
- Inadequate citation: Using others' ideas, words, or data without fully crediting the original source.
3. Prevention of Plagiarism To prevent plagiarism, EATFJ requires authors to:
- Cite all sources accurately and appropriately in accordance with the journal’s referencing style.
- Provide proper acknowledgment of others' ideas, data, and findings, including unpublished materials such as theses or conference proceedings.
- Use plagiarism detection tools during the submission process to ensure that the manuscript is free from any form of plagiarism.
- Submit original work that has not been published or is not under consideration elsewhere.
4. Manuscript Screening All submitted manuscripts to EATFJ will undergo a plagiarism check using reputable plagiarism detection software. This process helps to identify any potential instances of plagiarism, including direct copying, mosaic plagiarism, and improper paraphrasing.
5. Response to Plagiarism In the case of detected plagiarism, the following actions will be taken:
- Minor plagiarism: If plagiarism is found to be minor or unintentional (e.g., improper citation), the author will be given the opportunity to revise the manuscript and correct the errors before resubmission.
- Major plagiarism: If plagiarism is found to be significant or deliberate, the manuscript may be rejected, and the author may be banned from submitting future articles to the journal. In extreme cases, the manuscript may be retracted if it has already been published.
The decision to reject or retract a manuscript due to plagiarism will be made by the editorial board after reviewing the evidence.
6. Consequences of Plagiarism The consequences of plagiarism can include:
- Rejection of the manuscript.
- Retraction of an already published article.
- Exclusion from future submissions to the journal.
- Notification to the author’s affiliated institution or funding body, if necessary.
- Reporting to relevant academic and publishing bodies, if warranted.
7. Role of Authors It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that their submitted manuscripts are free from plagiarism. Authors must guarantee that all sources used in their research are properly cited and that their work is original. Failure to do so could result in serious consequences for both the authors and the journal.
8. Role of Reviewers Reviewers play a critical role in identifying potential plagiarism or ethical concerns in the manuscripts they evaluate. If a reviewer suspects plagiarism, they are encouraged to bring the issue to the attention of the editorial board, providing evidence where possible.
9. Appeals Process If an author believes that their manuscript has been unjustly flagged for plagiarism, they may appeal the decision in writing. The appeal should include any evidence or explanation to support the author’s claim. The editorial board will review the appeal and determine the appropriate course of action.
10. Commitment to Integrity At EATFJ, we are committed to promoting a culture of research integrity and ethical publishing. We encourage authors, reviewers, and editors to adhere to the highest standards of honesty and transparency in all aspects of the publication process.
